Why We Never Use Lock Boxes

Don't Trust a Stranger in Your Home

Firstly, we wouldn't trust a lock box on our own homes so we never use them on yours. Our agents accompany ALL showings! So you can be rest assured for a safer sale of your home.

There are 3 types of lock boxes: Key, Code & Card

Key: This type of lock box is going extinct, but some agents still use this. There is a UNIVERSAL key that is used to open it. Yes, UNIVERSAL meaning an agent from California can open your lock box on Long Island. That is NOT okay or safe by any means. Oh, and let's not get into how easily these are to purchase online.

Code: You can get one of these at Home Depot. Maybe you've used one on your gym locker. But would you use it to secure your house? Probably not. Your listing agent would give the code out to other agents so they can show your home without them being there.... not okay. Did someone over hear the code? Did that agent tell another agent? Is the code 1234? Just not good looks all the way around.

Card: Agents use a "Sentri" card to open this type of box. The card is assigned to the agent and given out by LIBOR, so yes you know the agent who got into the house and the listing agent knows who logs into the box without them being there. So it's the lesser of 3 evils. However, this can also be controlled with an app. Do you know who else has that agents login information? We still wouldn't trust this.

Let's be Real...

Lock boxes allow real estate agents that you don't know and their customers to enter your house. Keep in mind they are walking through every room, open closets, testing utilities, etc. No one knows your home better than your listing agent, nor can showcase your home to get YOU the BEST PRICE. The other agent could represent the BUYER, not YOU! When you choose a Lucky To Live Here agent you're hiring us to SELL your home. So we would never let another agent walk a potential buyer through your home without us.
